About

Denny with bike

Dennis ("Denny", "DB") Bradford Banks got started in the business as a young production assistant on Eliot Washburn's now-classic horror shocker, I'LL CHEW YOUR FACE OFF, after which he sold his first script, which became the drive-in favorite, OVER MY DEAD BODY. He parlayed that success (and paycheck) into launching his own shingle, New Phoenix Pictures, which put out many memorable b-movies during the period 1973-1992.

They also commissioned over 200 original screenplays that never got made, but Banks insisted on building a marketing campaign around each in hopes of attracting attention (and funding) for one or more of the projects.

But, the boom years ended in the late '90s with the collapse of the direct-to-video market and Banks was forced to halt production, liquidate his film library, and file for Chapter 11. Banks was never the same after that, spending most of his waking hours drowning his sorrows in alcohol, barbiturates, and chicken fried steak. Following a heart attack, the family staged an intervention which proved unsuccessful. Banks took his life later that year, recreating one of the more memorable "kills" from his seminal slasher flick, RED MEAT, as a love letter to his fans.

Almost two decades later, Banks' widow, Doris, discovered her husband's personal archive of marketing materials, including VHS cover art and original one-sheets, for all of those Movies Never Made, which we present to you here in vibrant color for the first time anywhere!
